Description by Lizeth

We made a compartmentalized cabinet from blank MDF. The top consists of multiple small and larger compartments, and the bottom has three closed compartments. This allows us to neatly display our accessories in the living room. In the closed compartments, we can store items that don't need to be in sight.

How I Made This Project

Assembly

With two people, we assembled the compartmentalized cabinet. It's a bit of a puzzle, but once you start screwing, the cabinet becomes quite sturdy quite quickly. Once the back panel (which consisted of three parts) is in place, it's a really solid cabinet. Doing this job alone is impossible, but with two people, it's manageable.

Next, we filled the screw holes created by sinking the screws with MDF putty. We decided not to caulk, so after puttying, we started sanding and degreasing (with ammonia).

Painting

Now that it's a smooth cabinet, we could start painting. One layer of primer and two layers of paint were enough to make the cabinet nice and smooth. After painting, we placed the shelves and hung the doors: done!

Dimensions of My DIY Project

The width is 160.0 cm. The height is 220.0 cm. The depth is 45.0 cm
