Description by Matthijs

This train track is primarily intended as a test track for automated driving. This assumes the longest possible sheet material available to limit the number of divisions. There is 1 division along the length, which makes it possible to lift the long plates to the attic. The corners of the front plate have been milled round by TOSIZE.it. So no annoying protruding points to bump into and it saves space. This design assumes a bending radius for the rails of 50.0 cm. The total width is 110.0 cm, which ensures that the rails from the center to the edge of the table are 5.0 cm.

How I made this project

First of all, the 2 plates are connected to each other with a connecting strip. After this, the whole thing was placed on an aluminum frame. The outriggers at the end of the aluminum frame make the wood stable enough and the braces turned out to be unnecessary. If you do not have an aluminum frame or are going to build a model railway, bracing the top plate is recommended for more stiffness and to prevent warping of the top plate in the future.
